Nigeria has taken a major step forward in advancing long-term, sustainable solutions for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with the successful validation of the National Durable Solutions Strategy<\/strong> and the formal inauguration of the Technical Working Group (TWG)<\/strong> by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).<\/span><\/p>\n

The event marked a pivotal moment in Nigeria\u2019s humanitarian and development landscape, bringing together key government institutions, international partners, civil society organisations, and technical experts. Their collaborative engagement served to refine, review, and endorse a national framework dedicated to improving the protection, well-being, and resilience of displaced populations across the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the meeting, participants received a comprehensive presentation of the Draft National Durable Solutions Strategy, followed by a series of plenary sessions that provided expert technical inputs. These discussions helped strengthen the draft, ensuring it aligns with global best practices while reflecting Nigeria\u2019s unique displacement realities.<\/span><\/p>\n

A major highlight of the day was the consolidation and official endorsement of the strategy, signalling the country\u2019s renewed commitment to nationally driven, coordinated, and sustainable solutions for displacement. The formal inauguration of the TWG further reinforces this commitment, establishing a multi-sectoral team responsible for steering implementation, monitoring progress, and ensuring accountability.<\/span><\/p>\n

This milestone positions Nigeria on a clear path toward durable solutions that restore dignity, enhance protection, and build lasting resilience for millions of displaced individuals and families.
