NCFRMI, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and ActionAid Lead High-Level Roundtable on Financing the HDP Nexus in Nigeria

ABUJA — ABUJA — The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and ActionAid Nigeria, convened a High-Level Roundtable on Financing the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus in Nigeria at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The executive gathering brought together key stakeholders, policy makers, international partners, and civil society leaders to address the critical imperative of securing sustainable, long-term financing for protracted displacement and crisis response across the nation.

Launch of the Policy Coherence and Learning Sub-Working Group

A major landmark of the roundtable was the official launch of the Policy Coherence and Learning Sub-Working Group.

This specialized platform is established to bridge operational and policy gaps across immediate humanitarian aid, sustainable socio-economic development, and local peacebuilding efforts.

Key objectives of the sub-working group include:

  • Systemic Policy Alignment: Ensuring that short-term emergency interventions align seamlessly with long-term national development goals and peace frameworks.
  • Institutional Synergy: Fostering stronger collaboration and dialogue among government agencies, international donors, non-governmental organizations, and host communities.
  • Evidence-Based Learning: Documenting field-level insights, tracking impact metrics, and scaling global best practices to continuously refine Nigeria’s crisis response strategies.

Driving Sustainable Financing and Resilience

Stakeholders at the roundtable emphasized that addressing complex displacement challenges requires transitioning from traditional, short-term crisis funding toward a structural “Triple Nexus” approach. Adopting this model ensures that financial resources are deployed efficiently to build community resilience, empower displaced populations, support voluntary and dignified reintegration, and foster lasting peace.

Through this joint initiative, NCFRMI and its partners reinforce their commitment to driving innovative financing mechanisms, deepening strategic partnerships, and delivering durable solutions that contribute directly to inclusive national development.
